The sensory world isn’t separate from our internal world but a direct reflection of it.
Join us as we delve deep into the nature of perception, challenging conventional views by exploring how our minds actively shape our sensory experiences. We begin by examining angelic consciousness, revealing how their entire sensory world is a projection of their inner states, where space, time, and objects are not external realities but mental constructs. We will then examine the contrast of the natural mind’s material-centric view with a spiritual perspective, and see how this demonstrates that the source of sensation lies within the mind and Divine influence.
We are then introduced to the concept of correspondences, which offers an explanation as to how objects in the natural world are symbolic representations of spiritual realities and states of mind, like the ox symbolising natural affection. Through this lens we look at how the natural world reflects a deeper spiritual order and of how this knowledge then opens up deeper meanings in Sacred Scripture, expanding our understanding of reality and the power of the mind in creating our experience.
Each of these 5 modules is centred around the contents of the 4-8 minute video and the accompanying passages from the doctrines for Spiritual Christianity. Each module offers 6-7 such passages. However, you may also wish to view them all in one document which you can do so here Redefining Our Sensory World Readings (PDF).
Likewise, throughout the modules links to audio recordings of Chapter 6 from the book Spiritual Christianity by Charles Augustus Tulk are offered, which is what this short course series is based on. For your reference, the Youtube channel is https://www.youtube.com/@SpiritualChristianity
